Wingtine Chardonnay is named after the specialized wing tine shank used to cultivate Goldridge soil, including our own Estate farm. By lifting and fracturing the soil vertically and horizontally, this specialized wing–shaped plow reduces tractor passes, while maintaining soil structure and integrating sustainable farming practices. A neighborly blend of organically grown fruit from the Heintz Ranch and biodynamically grown fruit from the Estate, the 2018 Wingtine captures the essence of this 800-foot ridge top eight miles from the ocean.
The 2018 Wingtine Chardonnay is an elegant balance of lively acidity and layered richness. Bright aromas of white nectarine, orange blossom and fresh apricot bound from the glass, followed closely by heady notes of cantaloupe and lemon curd. Warm elements of baking spices and pie crust add complexity on the palate, while a characteristic slate minerality enlivens the long, thoughtful finish.
“The 2018 Chardonnay Wingtine is a blend of fruit from the estate and Charles Heintz, which is right next door. Precise and beautifully focused, the Wingtine is a brilliant wine with tons of potential. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint, chalk and chamomile all grace this exquisite, vibrant Chardonnay. The 2018 is just gorgeous. The blend of the two sites works so well here.”
