2020 lemorel bottle

2024 Spring Release

Vineyard Profile

Expressing the unique character of a cool climate Zinfandel on Goldridge soil, Radio-Coteau’s Sonoma Coast Estate vineyard resides on a sun-drenched coastal ridge top above the town of Occidental. Lemorel is a tribute to the pioneering winegrowing family, folks who not only planted some of the first coastal Zinfandel, but also built the old historic winery back in 1906, currently still in-use though retired from original intent. Harvested on a cool, early morning in mid-September, the 2020 Lemorel is once again comprised of distinctive, gnarly vines planted in 1946. Following a 21-month élevage in barrel and puncheon with a modest amount of new wood, and another year of rest in bottle, the heady, expressive 2020 Lemorel is ready for immediate enjoyment.

Tasting Notes

The 2020 Lemorel Estate Zinfandel abounds with fresh fruit purity balanced by a crunchy acidity that hearkens back to its Sonoma Coast origins. Luscious blackberry, blueberry compote, and hawthorn berry candy lead the charge, followed by a forest floor earthiness and a touch of wild fennel. A delectable hint of hoisin sauce imparts a savory component amongst the fruit profile, while a sweet tobacco element adds an herbaceous flourish to the mid-palate. Robust yet graceful, the expressive structure yields to a satisfyingly prolonged cherry-laced finish that leaves a lasting impression.
