Wingtine Chardonnay is named after the specialized wing tine shank used to cultivate Goldridge soil, including our newly planted land. By lifting and fracturing the soil vertically and horizontally, this specialized wing–shaped plow reduces tractor passes, while maintaining soil structure and integrating sustainable farming practices. The foundation of the 2016 Wingtine Chardonnay hails from our noble neighbor, the Heintz vineyard, with modest complements from the inaugural harvest of our Estate vineyard Chardonnay.
The 2016 Wingtine Chardonnay expresses crisp yellow pear, and zesty finger limes which complement the strong acid backbone, a hallmark of the site. Lush notes of dried apricot and ripe honeydew add depth and richness to the nose and palate. A pleasantly unexpected tone of chamomile and honey distinguishes this wine from past vintages. Reinforcing this hint of sweetness are notes of baking spices, piecrust, and toasted almond. Finishing with a savory herb whisper, the palate is rich and lingering, while the acidity keeps the mouthfeel tight.
