2017 Radio-Coteau Terra Neuma bottle

Vineyard Profile

Exposed to the rigors of the foggy Sonoma coastline, this sixth-generation family-owned ranch resides on a bluff above Bodega, a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. This marginal site on the edge of the Sonoma Coast, Demeter certified Biodynamic® and farmed by the Benzigers, is characterized by consistently low yields and extended hang times. Fermented with 21% whole cluster, and bottled following a 16-month élevage in 25% new French oak, the 2017 is our last vintage from Terra Neuma. Join us as we bid a fond farewell to this cool, coastal site.

Tasting Notes

The 2017 Terra Neuma Pinot Noir showcases a delicate mélange of red and black fruit, including ripe blackberry, fresh black plum, and dried cranberry. A hint of rhubarb commingles with a collection of herbs and spices, most notably sage, cardamom, juniper berry, and clove. Like the Sonoma Coast, there is a wildness to this wine, with notes of mushroom and volcanic rock minerality. Textured tannins weave throughout the long, layered finish.

Wine Reviews

May 2019 | (91-94) points

“The 2017 Pinot Noir Terra Neuma is plush and succulent in the glass, with lovely fruit purity and terrific overall balance. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, spice and lavender flesh out in this attractive, mid-weight wine. The 21% whole clusters add striking complexity throughout. Sadly, 2017 is the last vintage of the Terra Neuma for Radio-Coteau.”
