2017 Radio-Coteau Savoy bottle

Vineyard Profile

On a stunning hillside vineyard located in the heart of Anderson Valley, Savoy’s Pinot Noir grapes develop intense flavor over a growing season lengthened by the cooling maritime influence that funnels through the valley. A complex patchwork of clonal selections, each block is organically farmed to its own specific needs. Hand-picked at night and trucked to the cellar in the early morning allows for optimum handling and whole berry integrity. In 2017, true lignification and chewy tannin from the stems warranted a Savoy Pinot distinct from previous vintages where whole cluster was used more sparingly. Extended time in bottle has further elevated its potential, honing the structured tannins and savory backbone into a confident yet elegantly rounded expression of Anderson Valley.

Tasting Notes

The concentrated ruby color of the 2017 Savoy Pinot Noir hints at the bright fruit that first greets the nose and palate. Ripe red cherry, strawberry, and pomegranate delight and linger, while delicate foraged mushroom and sous bois notes beckon from an earthier place. Nuanced elements of leather and pipe tobacco offer additional depth and character. Rounded out by well-integrated tannins and a graceful mid-weight texture, the 2017 Savoy Pinot Noir is a luxurious study in finesse and harmony that will continue to age delicately over time.

Wine Reviews

“The 2017 Pinot Noir Savoy is the most open-knit and accessible of the young Radio-Coteau Pinots. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, spice and leather notes are all generous in a fleshy, succulent Pinot that will drink well for the next decade or so.”
