2016 savoy pinot bottle

Vineyard Profile

On a stunning hillside vineyard located in the heart of Anderson Valley, Savoy’s Pinot Noir grapes develop intense flavor over a growing season lengthened by the cooling maritime influence that funnels through the valley. A complex patchwork of clonal selections, each block is organically farmed to its own specific needs. Hand-picked at night and trucked to the cellar in the early morning allows for optimum handling and whole berry integrity. A member of the inaugural Radio-Coteau release in 2002, the 2016 vintage of Savoy Pinot Noir marks our 15th vintage working with this special site.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Savoy Pinot Noir is a vibrant expression from this iconic Anderson Valley vineyard. Opening with fresh raspberry, red cherry, and dried fig, it further entices with graceful layers of kola nut, Chinese five spice, and a wisp of toasted toffee. Showcasing its structural depth are notes of fresh earth and black truffle, with a hint of worn leather. Piquant acidity complements lush tannins, lending a bright mouthfeel with a velvety finish.

Wine Reviews

January 2019 | 92 points

“Just as it was from barrel, the 2016 Pinot Noir Savoy offers quite a bit of immediacy and impact. Although a very pretty wine, the Savoy is stylistically quite different from the other wines in the range. Sweet red cherry, plum, blood orange and mint meld into the racy finish in this succulent, expressive Pinot.”
