Vineyard Profile

Burgundy has proven that quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir can be grown in the same soil, Corton hill being the classic example. Wines from this special place inspired our decision to make Chardonnay from the Savoy Vineyard, whose soil and climate are also ideal for both Burgundian varietals. The signature diurnal shifts in 2016 once again yielded an elegant tension between ripe fruit character and bright acidity, a distinct characteristic from this noble Chardonnay site.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Savoy Chardonnay opens with enticing aromas of lychee, Meyer lemon blossoms, and a touch of fresh pineapple. The palate is compelling, with a lingering velvety mouthfeel exposing ripe white peach, a tinge of honeycomb, and a hint of almond skin. A delicate minerality from Wente clone weaves through tropical fruit from Prosser, while extended time in the glass yields light vanilla bean. The finish of this Anderson Valley Chardonnay is prolonged both in mouthfeel and in mindset.

Wine Reviews

April 2018 | (91-93) points

“The 2016 Chardonnay Savoy is a very pretty, highly expressive wine. Apricot, smoke, chamomile, butter and lightly tropical notes are balanced by the decision to pick on the earlier side. The 2016 has lovely depth and textural richness in the restrained, mid-weight style that is such a Radio-Coteau signature. The purity of the flavors is truly striking.”
