2017 La Neblina bottle

Vineyard Profile

Spanish for “fog,” la neblina rolls in from the Pacific Ocean to blanket and cool the coastal Pinot Noir vineyards of western Sonoma County. This is our flagship Pinot Noir, always a cellar favorite, and is comprised of a complex array of five organically grown West County coastal sites on Goldridge soil. The weather in 2017 encouraged ideal stem lignification, with oscillating warm and cool temps throughout the growing season. Our decision to ferment the 2017 La Neblina Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir with 25% whole cluster inclusion helped capture the warmth and spice of the vintage.

Tasting Notes

Displaying graceful accessibility in its youth, the 2017 La Neblina Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir entices with a delicate mélange of fruit and spice. Fresh raspberry, red cherry, and black plum beckon, along with warm notes of allspice, and dried green tea leaf. Woven amongst well-integrated tannins is a hint of sarsaparilla, balanced by ripe cranberry and a slight minerality. Extended time in glass reveals earthier elements of mushroom and sous bois, a glimpse of the ageing potential of this versatile wine.

Wine Reviews

January 2019 | (90-92) points

“The 2017 Pinot Noir La Neblina is a very pretty, expressive wine from Radio-Coteau. The 35% whole clusters add lift to the rose petal and lavender flavors. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, leather and tobacco gain an extra kick of brightness with time in the glass. There is plenty to admire in this classy entry-level offering from Radio-Coteau.”
