If you’ve ever cut the foil capsule on a bottle of Radio-Coteau, you may have noticed that the front label is not the only unique artwork. The imaginative capsule illustration incorporates a grape tendril to represent our winegrowing and an ocean wave for our proximity to the Sonoma Coast, both set inside a circle to signify the cycle of the seasons. Coincidentally, it resembles the taijitu, or yin yang, a symbol depicting two sides in harmony. Together with the wave and tendril, the design encapsulates one of our guiding principles: to craft wines of balance with a natural sense of place.
Balance is for us both an aspiration and a practice. In the vineyards, our commitment to biodynamic, organic, and regenerative farming moves us toward greater harmony by nurturing the soil and fostering biodiversity. Enriching the land and ensuring a resilient ecosystem supports vine health, while careful management of the canopy and fruit load ensures quality over quantity. Minimal intervention in the cellar allows each wine to find its own equilibrium, expressing its origin with transparency and authenticity. Striving for balance also means continually refining our methods to adapt to the dynamic rhythms of nature, while staying true to the unique character of each season. Through these thoughtful practices, we create not just a wine, but a reflection of our philosophy in – and on – every bottle.
