2021 Wingtine Chardonnay bottle

Vineyard Profile

Wingtine Chardonnay is named after the specialized wing tine shank used to cultivate Goldridge soil, including our own Estate farm. By lifting and fracturing the soil vertically and horizontally, this specialized wing-shaped plow reduces tractor passes, while maintaining soil structure and integrating sustainable farming practices. Our tradition of blending biodynamically grown fruit from the Estate and organically grown fruit from the neighboring Heintz Ranch continued with the 2021 vintage. As in previous years, we drew on our experience with both sites to guide cellar decisions, utilizing a combination of concrete egg and neutral oak barrels. The result is an elegant Chardonnay showcasing Sonoma Coast fruit alongside unique vintage character.

Tasting Notes

A thoughtful regimen of concrete egg and large format, neutral oak barrels enhances the purity of fresh yellow fruits and delicate floral aromas that define the 2021 Wingtine. Notes of mild Meyer lemon, Asian pear, and night-blooming Jasmine intermingle with a playful brininess befitting this coastal Chardonnay. Light in body yet full in flavor, the rounded palate carries a crisp acidity to an enjoyable, persistent finish.

“The 2021 Chardonnay Wingtine is brilliant and finely cut from the outset. Hints of apricot, orange peel, mint and sweet spice lend an exotic flair to this delicate yet deeply flavored, perfumed Chardonnay. The Wingtine is a blend of Heintz and SeaBed done partly in cement, with no new wood.
