2019 Lemorel bottle

Vineyard Profile

Expressing the unique character of a cool climate Zinfandel on Goldridge soil, Radio-Coteau’s Sonoma Coast Estate vineyard resides on a sun-drenched coastal ridge top above the town of Occidental. Lemorel is a tribute to the pioneering winegrowing family, folks who not only planted some of the first coastal Zinfandel, but also built the old historic winery back in 1906, currently still in-use though retired from original intent. The 2019 growing conditions produced low yields of highly concentrated fruit from the 73-year-old Lemorel vines. Gentle handling in the cellar during fermentation and élevage further preserved fruit purity, resulting in a coastal expression worthy of its special site origin.

Tasting Notes

Bold and enlivening dark berry notes of crème de cassis and blueberry compote smoothly integrate with hints of red licorice and dried Santa Rosa plum. Crushed thyme and earthy sandalwood add riveting nuance to this cool climate Zinfandel. The palate is seamless, impeccably balancing fresh acidity and polished tannins, lengthening to a flavorsome and uplifting finish. A complex melody of vibrant fruit and sophisticated structure, the 2019 Lemorel also guarantees an exciting evolution in bottle.

Wine Reviews

“The 2019 Zinfandel Estate Lemorel is a heady wine. A blast of dark cherry/plum fruit, spice, mocha, leather and incense makes a strong first impression. This is a decidedly lush style shaped by late season heat, and yet all the elements are impeccably balanced.”
