Radio-Coteau 2016 Lemorel Zinfandel Bottle

Vineyard Profile

Expressing the unique character of a cool climate Zinfandel on Goldridge soil, Radio-Coteau’s Sonoma Coast Estate vineyard resides on a sun-drenched coastal ridge top above the town of Occidental. Lemorel is a tribute to the pioneering winegrowing family, folks who not only planted some of the first coastal Zinfandel, but also built the old historic winery back in 1906, currently still in-use though retired from original intent. With vines planted in 1946, Lemorel is living history, and the concentrated fruit and layered mouthfeel of the 2016 vintage exemplifies the depth and complexity of these 70-year-old vines.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Lemorel Estate is decidedly fruit-driven, with refined earth and harmonic acidity rounding into a dynamic representation of cool-climate Zinfandel. Ripe boysenberry, black plum, and strawberry compote lead the intense fruit aromas, followed by an alluring whisper of pennyroyal. Notes of cinnamon and vanilla bean follow, along with hints of cocoa and star anise. Full-bodied, with polished tannins and refreshing acidity, the 2016 Lemorel is magnetic and memorable.

Wine Reviews

May 2019 | 94 points

“The 2016 Zinfandel Lemorel Estate offers a striking combination of intense perfume, structure and fruit. Deceptive in its mid-weight feel, the 2016 has quite a bit of depth and overall intensity that it holds well. All of the elements simply come together in an effortless, compelling wine from Radio-Coteau’s Estate vineyard. The 2016 is every bit as gorgeous as it was from barrel.”
