2025 Spring Release

Vineyard Profile

Expressing the unique character of a cool climate Zinfandel on Goldridge soil, Radio-Coteau’s Sonoma Coast Estate vineyard resides on a sun-drenched coastal ridge top above the town of Occidental. The biodynamically grown Lemorel is a tribute to the pioneering winegrowing family, folks who not only planted some of the first coastal Zinfandel, but also built the old historic winery back in 1906, currently still in-use though retired from original intent. In 2021, a growing season lacking in weather extremes resulted in a touch longer hangtime and an early October pick for the Estate Zinfandel. To highlight the dynamic fruit, we chose to age the 2021 Lemorel for 20 months in neutral barrel and puncheon, and the resulting expression is one befitting these distinctive, gnarly vines’ impressive 75 years of age.

Tasting Notes

The 2021 Lemorel Estate Zinfandel’s intense core of ripe blackberry, raspberry, and cassis bounds from the glass. On the palate, the dark berries shine, accompanied by hints of violet candy and a touch of warming Asian spices. Subtle potpourri notes emerge alongside integrated tannins, while vibrant acidity on the mid-palate adds freshness and lift. Well-balanced, with a lengthy, satisfying finish, the 2021 Lemorel Estate Zinfandel offers a seamless blend of power and elegance.

Wine Reviews

“The 2021 Zinfandel Lemorel Estate is fabulous. It offers a compelling mix of varietal fruit, bright acids complexity, a pretty appealing combination in my book. Dark red cherry, blood orange, cedar, pipe tobacco, dried flowers and mint are all beautifully lifted in this mid-weight, wonderfully juicy Zinfandel from Radio-Coteau.”
