2018 Radio-Coteau Harrison Grade bottle

Vineyard Profile

Harrison Grade is our Estate grown Syrah and is situated 800 ft. above sea level on a ridge top above Occidental. Biodynamically farmed, hand-harvested, native fermented, and bottled in-house, Harrison Grade Sonoma Coast Estate Syrah is noteworthy and a true grape to glass, vertically-integrated expression by the crew at Radio-Coteau. Our first vintage of Estate Syrah that is a Demeter certified Biodynamic® wine, the 2018 was harvested exclusively from the westernmost edge of the Estate vineyard, immediately bordering the road that is the bottle’s namesake.

Tasting Notes

The alluring 2018 Harrison Grade Estate Syrah welcomes with generous, rounded, dark fruit richness. Fresh blackberry, black plum, and crème de cassis drive this focused expression of coastal Syrah, complemented by warm, intriguing notes of leather and cedar. Savory hints of soy sauce and dried clove add complexity, along with a touch of elegantly bittersweet cocoa nib. Firm tannins and polished acidity envelop the palate, culminating in a finish that lingers with delicious solemnity.

“The 2018 Syrah Estate Harrison Grade has really come together since I last tasted it. Today, it is a rich, dense Syrah built on texture. Black cherry, chocolate, game, tobacco and incense give the 2018 its distinctly dark, brooding personality. There’s quite a bit of stem influence (67%) but it works well.”
