2018 Radio-Coteau Alberigi bottle

Vineyard Profile

In the heart of the Russian River Valley, the Alberigi Vineyard, sourced exclusively by Radio-Coteau and farmed organically, lies on a stretch of Vine Hill Road renowned for its Goldridge soils. Notoriously composed yet powerful, Alberigi expresses the purity of this special region. Hailing from the cooler side of the Russian River Valley, the Alberigi now earns the distinction of being our sole Pinot Noir from this unique AVA. With noble hang time and graceful steady ripening, the 2018 vintage culminated in turgid, flavorful berries and the signature Alberigi balance of earth and fruit.

Tasting Notes

The 2018 Alberigi Pinot Noir almost conjures up the Russian River itself, as though the vibrancy of the rushing water and the stones of the riverbed have skillfully coalesced with the bright fruit so prominently present in wines from this region. Juicy black raspberry, crushed strawberry, and baked plum dart from the glass, while dried lavender and baking spices slowly reveal themselves. Mild hints of beetroot and black olive hearken back to the earth, along with a pleasant flintiness on the finish. With fine acidity balancing a sleek mouthfeel and elegant tannins, the 2018 Alberigi is a wine to savor now, or to cellar and enjoy for many years to come.

Wine Reviews

April 2020 | (92-94) Points

“The 2018 Pinot Noir Alberigi, from a site in the Russian River, nicely balances exuberance and freshness. A touch of whole cluster (20%) gives the sweet red and bluish fruits nuance and energy to play off the Russian River density. Lavender, rose petal and sweet spice meld into the deep, polished finish. Here, too, all the elements are impeccably balanced from start to finish.”
