“The 2012 Syrah Timbervine is firm, tannic and in need of more time in barrel. Today it is the purity of the fruit that is most striking. Bright mineral and saline notes add energy to the dark red and black-hued fruit. Orange peel, white pepper, flowers and a host of savory notes flesh out on the high-toned, super-expressive finish. Eric Sussman used more whole clusters in 2012 (17%) than 2011, which might explain why the wine needs a bit more time to come together. There is plenty to look forward to in this highly expressive, nuanced Syrah.”
