“Good bright deep ruby. Slightly reduced aromas of raw crushed berries and mocha, with a faintly porty quality. Then creamy-sweet and thick but penetrating, with sound acids giving shape and lift to the blackberry and boysenberry flavors. Very primary zinfandel that should merit a higher score with a bit of patience. Today this seems almost restrained in the context of California zinfandel. Sussman recommends drinking this within four or five years.”
