2021 Riesling bottle

2023 Spring Release

Vineyard Profile

Those who have enjoyed our organically and biodynamically grown wines over the last decade may recall the lineup once included a Riesling hailing from a coastal Sonoma site. Historically, Riesling and Pinot Noir have shown to be quite compatible neighbors, sharing an affinity for cooler microclimates and well-drained sandy soils. Thus, as Pinot Noir thrives in the cool clime and balanced Goldridge soil of the Estate, Riesling was a natural addition to the unique tapestry of the vineyard. Rarely grown so close to the California coast, this distinctive varietal is proudly nurtured from vine to bottle by the team at Radio-Coteau. Following a whole cluster press, the 2021 Riesling went through fermentation and élevage in stainless steel, and shows exceptional natural clarity without fining or filtering. Our appreciation for the specialness of the Estate site and its affinity for cool, coastal expressions continues with this exciting release.

Tasting Notes

A delicate, medium straw hue swirls in the glass, releasing an elegant mélange of zesty lemon, white peach, and summer honeysuckle. A refreshing note of petrichor combines with a subtle hint of petrol, a reminder of this noble varietal’s character. Expansive floral and citrus flavors meld into a round, creamy texture and echo throughout an energetic finish. Enchanting in its youth, the 2021 Estate Riesling will also mature gracefully in bottle over time.

“Radio-Coteau’s 2021 Riesling is gorgeous. Orchard fruit, ginger, chamomile, lime and dried flowers open effortlessly in a mid-weight, beautifully textured Riesling that is immediately appealing.”
