2014 harrison grade bottle

Vineyard Profile

Harrison Grade is our Estate grown Syrah and is situated 800ft above sea level on a ridgetop above Occidental. Organically farmed, hand-harvested, native fermented, and bottled in-house, Harrison Grade Sonoma Coast Estate Syrah is a a true grape to glass, vertically-integrated expression by the crew at Radio-Coteau. Fermented with 36% whole cluster, the 2014 Harrison Grade Syrah aged in a third new French Puncheon (500L) for 21 months. This bottling is a cellar favorite with cool-climate spicy charm and vibrant acidity.

Tasting Notes

The 2014 Harrison Grade Sonoma Coast Syrah is the latest offering from the estate. A deep, dark purple that turns to an electric violet at the rim underscores the intensity of this bottling. Ripe black plum, black currant, and blackberry jam provide the fruit core of this Syrah. A distinct animal character of duck prosciutto is pleasant and quite memorable. The animal character is reinforced by the presence of curing spices and clove. Herbal elements of sage and licorice add further depth and intensity to this bottling. Adding to the energy and intensity of the bouquet, this wine drinks seamlessly with food, as the grainy tannin and lively acidity heighten the experience.

Wine Reviews

March 2017 | 94 points

“The 2014 Syrah Harrison Grade Estate is a fabulous wine for many reasons. Among them, the Harrison Grade appears to have handled the stress of the growing season better than some of the other wines in this lineup. Bright acids prop up the red cherry, plum, spice, mint, rose petal and blood orange flavors. Still tightly wound and in need of bottle age, the 2014 is simply superb, not to mention one of the clear highlights in this range.”
