2015 dierke bottle

Vineyard Profile

Dierke’s organically certified hillside vineyard is nestled just off Bodega Highway within a diverse habitat of fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and beneficial plants. Notoriously exuberant and powerful, like the grower himself, the Dierke vineyard teems with life every season. More structured due to a higher skin to juice ratio in the fermenter, the 2015 Dierke is a dynamic Pinot Noir that has developed gracefully through extended bottle aging prior to release.

Tasting Notes

The 2015 Dierke Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir displays significant structure in its youth.  Luscious raspberry, simmered red cherry, fresh fig, and wild strawberry complement hints of dried rose petals and sage. A diverse array of spices including anise, cardamom, and baking spices lend sweetness, balanced by mild gaminess, adding further complexity. At last, freshly roasted coffee bean comes through, lending a desirable nuttiness to this intricate and intriguing pinot. Well-developed tannins provide for an enduring finish and a wine with impressive aging potential.

Wine Reviews

March 2017 | 94+ points

“The 2015 Pinot Noir Dierke is powerful, tannic and structured, all of which suggest it will need a few years to be at its best. Then again, the 2015 was also bottled a week before this tasting. Even so, the wine’s energy and tannic clout are formidable. Bright red stone fruit, floral and mineral notes shape the tense, driving finish. There is plenty to look forward to.”
