Riesling

Planted in 2009 on an exposed southwestern facing slope, and farmed organically, the Platt Riesling vines were perched high above the town of Bodega. The 2015 Platt Sonoma Coast Riesling demonstrates how well suited this grape is to this region and is also a bittersweet selection this fall. The block has been recently grafted over to Pinot Noir, and as this aromatic white knocks on heaven's door, we say adieu to a one-of-a-kind wine.

The 2015 Radio-Coteau Platt Sonoma Coast Riesling demonstrates the affinity of this grape to this region. The wine appears as a pale golden straw when poured, which belies the aromatic intensity that arise from the glass. A harmonious balance of fruit and floral tones is quickly recognized as fresh nectarine, yellow apple flesh, and squeezed Meyer lemon juice and zest are identified. Where fruit ends floral begins, with a bouquet of freshly trimmed honeysuckle and fruit blossoms. These aromas stay true to the palette and are enhanced by the strong mineral character of the wine granted by the high acidity, ever-deepening the overall complexity of the wine.
